John Finegan has 35 years of sales, marketing and management experience in the Agricultural industry. He has a B.S. degree from Penn State’s College of Agriculture and served for two years in the U.S. Peace Corps as an Ag educator and advisor. Prior to founding Beck Ag, he spent 15 years with Chevron Chemical Company, in their Ag products division, and completed Northwestern University’s year long Kellogg Management Institute.
Since 1997 Beck Ag has refined a word-of-mouth model that uses experience-sharing and peer-influence to drive technology adoption through engaging Go-to-Market strategies for Ag technology companies. Beck Ag pioneered the use of B-to-B word of mouth marketing and sales strategies in the Ag industry. The company assists Ag and Ag-related businesses to change behaviors and drive adoption of products, services and technology through experience-sharing to educate Ag professionals. Beck Ag’s approach has proven to be innovative and highly successful; the company has been on the INC5000 fastest growing company list five times and employs and contracts with over 100 Ag professionals. John has served on the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) Board and was the recipient of the Ag industry’s “Ag Communicator of the Year” award in 2000. In 2005 he received the Dilworth Award for Innovation. In 2009 John was recognized as the Greater Sacramento Region’s Social Entrepreneur of the Year and in 2011 the Sacramento Metro Chamber named him as their Civic Entrepreneur of the Year. John served as President of the Entrepreneurs Organization – Sacramento Chapter and his passion for giving back has fueled his energy to serve Board and leadership roles on the following organizations: Capital Public Radio, Social Venture Partners, Positive Coaching Alliance, St. Hope Public Schools, San Juan Education Foundation, YMCA of Superior California, CityYear, Teach for America, College Track and STAND UP. He also has 12 years of youth sports coaching experience.
